Semantic Web projects (& Mini-Projects)
If you would would like me to supervise your project, email me to arrange an appointment where we can flesh out some ideas.
A mini Semantic Web project might comprise the following:
Review the fundamentals of Semantic Web technologies.
Review data standards for a particular purpose or topic that you are interested in (e.g. for email you might look at the RFCs 561, 680, 724, 733, 822, 2822 & 5322 ).
Investigate and design an RDFS or OWL schema that models typical data from your area of interest.
Implement a data extraction and transformation system to remodel some sample data using your schema.
Discuss how (or if) this alternative data model can allow novel use of the data that might not previously have been possible.
Assess the suitability of your model (for what purposes and in what circumstances is it useful).
Describe what you hoped to achieve compared to what you were able to achieve. What would you do differently now? What can be done next – i.e. how should you, or someone else wanting to do more, approach the problem?
